Current Research: Works in progress: The Renaissance Diva and Shakespearean Drama (on the rise of actresses in Europe and their impact on Shakespeare and his contemporaries); co-editor and co-translator, Isabella Andreini, Fragmenti di alcune scritture (1617).
Brown is a founding member of Theater Without Borders, a collaborative working group of scholars studying the transnational circulation of theater in the Renaissance.
A playwright and poet, Brown is currently exploring film. Her first effort, The Inamorata, a short video stemming from her research on commedia dell’arte actresses, is available on Vimeo.
