Award-winning Graduate Student

Miller ObermanMiller Oberman, PhD candidate in poetry and poetics, is the first student ever to receive one of the country’s top awards for poetry translation, Poetry magazine’s John Frederick Nims Memorial Prize. The award honors the single best translation published in the magazine during the year. Miller’s translation, “Old English Rune Poem,” was published in the magazine in June 2013. Previous awardees include Pulitzer Prize-winner Rita Dove and National Book Award-winner Marilyn Hacker.
