Najnin Islam is an Assistant Professor in the Department of English. Her research focuses on postemancipation labor economies in the Caribbean and the Indian Ocean world. Her current project offers a literary-historical account of race and caste in the Anglophone Caribbean during the era of indentureship. Her work appears in Small Axe, Interventions, Global South Studies, and elsewhere.
