Christine Byrne ’19 (CLAS), graduated from the University of Connecticut in 2019 with a degree in English. After spending three years working as a high school English teacher through Teach for America, she was accepted into the Iowa Writers’ Workshop. In Iowa, Christine received the John Logan Poetry Prize and the Arthur James Pflughaupt Prize in Poetry. Her work has appeared in magazines such as the New England Review, Best New Poets, Missouri Review, Plume, and elsewhere, and was honored as a finalist in the National Poetry Series. Her debut collection, Opera, was awarded the Iowa Poetry Prize, forthcoming April 2027.
